After failing his fifth Arn Guard draft trial, Ayan returns to his sister, Mya, and their wealthy contract family in Lake City. When Mya is abducted, her abductor appears before Ayan to bargain. Ayan is forced to lie about the consequences in fear of revealing their secret. While Ayan drowns in his guilt, grief and paranoia, the Arn Guard end the search.  Ayan accepts a seemingly impossible quest to find an unknown item, in exchange for his sisters life.

During his quest, Ayan begins to discover the true face, and hidden history of ARCA. An ancient sect called The Mardern, once loyal to the kings of old, continue to murder any man woman or child they consider a threat. In search of the unknown item, the Mardern seek out the only person who could find it. But while both Ayan and the Mardern endure their deadly head on quest, a far more sinister threat has awakened. A weak, bedridden, extremely wealthy young boy, begins to regain his incredible power. With the help of an old ally, he learns the value of the unknown item, and why he must fight to obtain it for himself.

As death continues to stalk his beaten path, Ayan must learn to embrace a power which the Mardern fear most. A power he doesn’t understand. Reluctantly accepting his fate to play his part in a so-called ancient prophecy, Ayan must find the item, his sister, or both as ruthless killers close in from all directions. But while he fights to save his sister, his powers continue to grow, giving the people of ARCA a fighting chance against the darkest of evils, thousands of years in the making.
